Dance for Peace will premier in the USA at Miami Dade County Auditorium February 23, 2019
On February 23rd, 2019 DANCE FOR PEACE (DANZAR POR LA PAZ), an internationally re- nowned performance, is making its US premiere at the MIAMI DADE COUNTY AUDITORIUM, and the performance will benefit UNICEF USA. Top local dance companies, as well as nation- ally and internationally recognized dance artists will unite to be champions of peace, and goodwill, transforming the art of dance into a bridge with their community. In commemoration of arts leaders who build strong, united communities through dance, the Gala will pay tribute to the outstanding international career of dancer, director, and choreographer EDWARD VIL- LELLA who was instrumental in building and shaping Miami’s dance community during his tenure as Founding Artistic Director of Miami City Ballet.
ABOUT DANCE FOR PEACE (DANZAR POR LA PAZ)
Established in 2014, DANCE FOR PEACE is an uplifting multi-genre dance festival showcasing a wide variety of dance styles. Tango, Flamenco, Modern Dance, Contemporary Dance, Clas- sical and Neoclassical Ballet companies will all unite for one evening with the purpose of deliv- ering a collective message of peace through a celebration of dance and music.
Founded and directed by LEONARDO REALE, DANCE FOR PEACE has held annual perfor- mances in Argentina benefiting UNICEF since the Gala’s inception in 2014. The Gala’s mission is to use the art of dance to promote the universal cultivation of peace and nonviolence. Throughout its five year history, DANCE FOR PEACE has brought dancers together from more than fifty companies hailing from Argentina, USA, Chile, Brazil, and Mexico, all uniting in the name of this important cause.
In 2018, DANCE FOR PEACE was presented outside of Argentina for the first time, making its second South American debut in Santiago de CHILE for the benefit of UNICEF Chile; thus be- ginning its international journey. This momentous turn has helped pave the path for its upcom- ing USA premiere in February, 2019.
DANCE FOR PEACE is an event suitable for the entire family. Proceeds from DANCE FOR PEACE Miami will directly benefit UNICEF USA, which works in more than 190 countries and territories to put children first by providing health care and immunizations, safe water and sani- tation, nutrition, education, emergency relief and more.
