In July, the series named LITERARY WEDNESDAYS in its 3^rd Season, with the support of the North American Academy of the Spanish Language (ANLE), Baquiana Literary Magazine and the Spanish Cultural Center of Miami (CCEMIAMI), has as special guest the distinguished professor, researcher, literary critic and writer Víctor Fuentes to talk about her books ANTONIO MACHADO EN EL SIGLO XXI [Antonio Machado in the XXI Century] and GALDÓS, 100 AÑOS DESPUÉS, Y EN EL PRESENTE [Galdós, 100 years later, and in the present].

Every second Wednesday of the month, the series LITERARY WEDNESDAYS invites different authors, in order to continue with the contribution of the cultural development of the community and the promotion of the language and literature in Spanish in the United States of America. The programs are coordinated and conducted by Maricel Mayor Marsán, president of the Florida Delegation of the North American Academy of the Spanish Language (ANLE) and director of Baquiana Literary Magazine.

The event will be recorded by the digital platform ZOOM and it will be located on a permanent basis to the public at the BAQUIANA TV Channel of YouTube:

Born in Madrid, he has lived abroad in France, England and Venezuela. Later on, he established himself in New York (USA) where he concluded his university studies at New York University (NYU), with a Doctorate in Romance Languages and Literature in 1964. He has taught Spanish in Barnard College, University of Columbia, New York (1961-1965) and in the summer school of Middlebury College (1962) He has been professor of Spanish Literature (XIX and XX centuries) at the University of California in Santa Bárbara (1965-2003), as well as a visiting professor at the University of California at Berkely in 1985. Since 2003 he became an Emeritus Professor at the University of California in Santa Bárbara.

He has published about 330 articles related to his profession and more than 26 books, among the ones are: La marcha al pueblo en las letras españolas (1917-1936). In the area of creation, he has published, under the heteronym of Floreal Hernández, the autofiction novel Morir en Isla Vista (1999), part of a memorialist trilogy that includes the following titles: Bio-Grafía americana (2008, Valladolid, Fundación Jorge Guillén. Colección: Las Españas peregrinas) and Memorias del segundo exilio español (1954-2011) (Madrid, Verbum, 2011). In English, he has published To Die in the USA (novel, 2015), a new versión of Morir en Isla Vista. He was co-editor, with Luis Leal, of Ventana abierta (with 34 issued published, 1995-2013) a latin magazine of literature, art and culture. His extensive resumé includes several awards, honors and distinctions. He is currently a numerary member of the North American Academy of Spanish (ANLE) and a corresponding member of the Real Academy of Spanish (RAE).
