The Cultural Center of Spain and The Miami Dade County Auditorium present the play Las Voces de Penélope (The Voices of Penélope) by the Spanish playwright Itziar Pascual. The play is produced by Compañía Sensodrama under the direction and dramaturgy of Eugenia Sancho.
The Voices of Penélope tells the intimate untold story of the wife of Odysseus, hero of “The Odyssey”. In modern feminism, Penélope embodies one of the most traditional yet controversial female archetypes: the woman who waits.
The story follows three different women in two different time periods who oscillate between love, irony, and humor only to discover that “to wait is to resist and that Time is not an enemy: it is a fellow traveler”.
This is a play written by the Spanish playwright Itziar Pascual, directed by Eugenia Sancho, and performed by actresses Letty Carmona, Blanca Jara, Eugenia Sancho.
