Information about the book:

In Snapshots in two voices Gerardo Piña-Rosales and Daniel R. Fernández, both writers and photographers, have selected each one of them 30 photos from their personal files. In a counterpoint, and in a reciprocal way, both are inspired by the photographies of each other, not to describe them but to weave a story, a short one, a fable. Whether it’s in tormented monologues or in sparkling dialogues, the characters –most of them anonymous– speak of their obsessions, of their fears. The same title already says it all: Snapshots, images taken by the cameras (that is to say, by the photographers); in two voices, silent in the rumor of the word.

As much as he has devoted himself to literature, Piña Rosales has cultivated since his youth the photography. In his writings, the photos are not limited to become ancillary parts of the text but they pretend to be valid by themselves, in perpetual dialectic with the words. Following this, his latest publication was the book of pictures Imaginerías (2022), with texts of Manuel Garrido Palacios and the prologue of Daniel R. Fernández.

A selection of the narrative of Gerardo Piña Rosales (among essays, notes and newspaper articles) have been compiled in his book Por una literatura de avanzada y otros escritos (Miami: Ediciones Baquiana, 2022), as well as a compilation of reviews, articles and interviews about his literary work in the book Una voz, una mirada.
