The Cultural Center of Spain in Miami is turning 30, and we invite you to celebrate with us.
For several months, we will be offering theater and music performances, among many other activities, at various venues throughout Miami-Dade County.
We want to celebrate with you, and to that end we invite our local artists who have been with us all these years to participate in each of our performances.
Don’t miss our second event of “30 años, 30 historias” Fumando Espero, el penúltimo cuplé, written and performed by Eugenia Sancho. A musical show that invites the audience on a journey to the Spanish Belle Époque. This anthology of cuplé songs will transport the audience to a Spanish cabaret in 1900, where a lively cupletista, accompanied by piano, will perform many of the era’s most iconic cuplés (La violetera, El relicario, La pulga, La regadera…), from the most risqué to the most authentically Spanish, while recounting the stories behind the songs and the artists who perform them—the cupletistas.
Eugenia Sancho will be accompanied on piano by Evita Garrucho.
It will be a night to reconnect, share, and honor three decades of culture, community, and creativity at the iconic Cubaocho in Miami’s Little Havana.

About Eugenia Sancho
She holds a degree in Stage Direction and Playwriting from the Escuela Superior de Arte Dramático de Valencia, Spain (ESAD).
She trained as an actress at the Shakespeare Foundation of Valencia, where she delved into classic Spanish and international texts.
She is currently based in Miami (United States) and works as an actress, director, playwright, and singer.
