FlamenGO 2026

Irene Lozano “La Chiqui de Málaga”
Las Mujeres que habitan en mí

Date

Friday, May 29, 2026.

Schedule

8:00 PM

The Cultural Center of Spain and the Miami-Dade County Auditorium “Away from Home Series” present the annual FlamenGO program. This year we invite the Málaga-born flamenco dancer Irene Lozano “La Chiqui de Málaga” with her show Las Mujeres que habitan en mí (The Women Who Live in Me).

Las Mujeres que habitan en mí is an intimate and personal work in which, thru dance, music, and song, the dancer Irene Lozano traces an emotional journey through the multiple feminine identities that coexist within her. Women she has been, women she dreamed of being, and women who remained silent, marked by decisions, life circumstances, and inevitable sacrifices on her artistic and personal journey.

In this piece, La Chiqui de Málaga uses flamenco as a narrative and emotional language, capable of expressing what cannot always be said with words, while also transforming the stage into a space for reflection and connection with the audience.

Tickets for this event are general admission and are available at:

ABOUT “LA CHIQUI DE MÁLAGA”

Irene Lozano Ruiz (Málaga in 1985) is an internationally recognized flamenco dancer. From a young age, her passion for dance led her to immerse herself in the world of flamenco and Spanish dance.
At the age of 11, she began her official training at the private conservatory Ateneo de Música y Danza de Málaga, where she studied for 5 years. There, she came into contact for the first time with Spanish dance, ballet, contemporary dance, and flamenco, developing a strong connection with the latter, graduating in Spanish Dance and later, in 2009, with a degree in Choreography, specializing in Flamenco, from the Superior Conservatory of Dance in Málaga. During her 14 years of training, Irene was also part of the flamenco school of the renowned Susana Lupiañez (La Lupi), where she performed her first shows and began to professionally get to know the world of dance.
Since then, she has continued perfecting her art by studying with great personalities of dance such as Rocio Molina, Juana Amaya, Matilde Coral, Antonio Canales, Marco Flores, Manuel Liñan, Karime Amaya, Rafael Campallo, Aida Gómez, Mercedes Ruiz, among others.

She has participated in renowned Spanish companies such as Eva Yerbabuena, Javier Latorre, Rafael Esteves, Nani Paños, and Rubén Olmo, among others.
During her career, she has received important awards, including the Desplante Award at the Festival de la Unión 2022, where she was considered the best flamenco dancer.
Since 2013, “La chiqui,” as she is known in the dance world, created her own company, performing numerous shows and taking them to major festivals. Her latest creation, PRESENTE, premiered at the Jerez Flamenco Festival in 2024 with great success, receiving praise from both the audience and the press.

Currently, Irene resides in Miami, from where she plans her international tours. The artist has created her school, Miami Flamenco Dance Institute, where she offers classes for both the young and adults.
Her passion for teaching drives her to offer her courses and masterclasses all over the world.
