An Hour Without TV is a drama written in 1984 by Spanish author Jaime Salom. Being a trendsetter author in those years, this play manages to still be incredibly relevant to this day.
The play talks about a marriage on the day of their 10th wedding anniversary, where the wife, Patricia, decides to ask her husband Edward for an hour without any distractions to talk about their relationship because she has decided to end it.
Throughout the play, all hidden (and not so hidden) truths begin to be exposed, going from domestic abuse, resentment, mistreatment, violence, manipulation, mockery, tricks, all leading up to an unexpected ending.
This play invites people to reflect on toxic relationships and certain common unhealthy dynamics within a marriage. Also, the purpose of this play consists of denouncing in a visual manner physical and psychological abuse towards women in particular.
