Every second Wednesday of the month, the series Literary Wednesdays invites different authors, to continue with the contribution of the cultural development of the community and the promotion of the language and literature in Spanish in the United States of America.
On December 10th Maricel Mayor Marsán, president of the Florida Delegation of the North American Academy of the Spanish Language (ANLE) and director of Baquiana Literary Magazine will have a very special guest, the Scholar, author and literary critic Germán D. Carrillo to talk about the posthumous novel of Gabriel García Márquez.
Miércoles Literarios counts with the support of the Delegation of Florida of the North American Academy of the Spanish Language (ANLE), Baquiana Literary Magazine and the Cultural Center of Spain in Miami (CCEMiami).
The event, conducted in Spanish, will be located on a permanent basis to the public at the BAQUIANA TV Channel of YouTube on Wednesday, December 10th, 2025, from 12:00 AM.

The posthumous novel of the famous writer and Nobel Literature Prize Gabriel García Márquez UNTIL AUGUST has been the object of controversy since its initial publication. The same was published, with the permission of his children, on the tenth anniversary of his death in 2024. After many doubts whether this was a novel or not, if it was the intention of the author to write a short story or he was planning to write a longer novel, whether it was only a draft or not, these are the elements that directed us to a conversation with the literary critic that participates in this program, in order to understand better the same and the reason why the children decided to publish it.
He was born in Pamplona, Colombia. He is a professor, literary critic, researcher, essayist and writer. He graduated with a doctorate in Contemporary Hispanic and Hispanic American Literature from the University of Illinois. He has been a professor at Brown University (Providence, Rhode Island) and Marquette University (Wisconsin) in the United States. He was the director of the program of studies from Marquette University at the Complutense University of Madrid for nine years (non-consecutive). He is an Emeritus Professor of Marquette University and President Emeritus of Sigma Delta Pi, the Honorary Hispanic Society that has over 620 chapters throughout the North American nation. His professional interests are languages, literature, history, culture and art in general. He has placed a lot of emphasis in the members of the well-known Latin American boom and other posterior authors. He is the author of a great number of essays about figures of the BOOM (Cortázar, Fuentes, Vargas Llosa, Onetti, Benedetti and García Márquez) and posteriors (Bryce Echenique, Rosario Ferré, Gustavo Álvarez Gardeazábal, Alonso Aristizábal and Antonio Skármeta, among others). He has also reviewed books for many years of Hispania, Inter-American Review of Bibliography, Revista Iberoamericana, World Literature, Confluencia, BIANLE, RANLE and other university magazines of México, España and Colombia. Some of these essays have been integrated in the book Realismo e irrealidad in the Current Hispanic American Literature (Bogotá, 1992) and La narrativa de Gabriel García Márquez: Essays of interpretation (Castalia Editores, Madrid, 1975). His two most recent books are: Dos mundos literarios: España e Hispanoamérica – Siglos XX y XXI (Net Educativa, Bogotá, 2013) and another that published the North American Academy of the Spanish Language titled: El país sí tiene quien le escriba: La narrativa colombiana de entre siglos (New York, ANLE Colección Pulso Herido, 2015). He is a Numerary Member of the North American Academy of the Spanish Language (ANLE) and a Correspondent Member of the Royal Academy of Spanish (RAE).
