The Cultural Center of Spain in Miami (CCEMiami), in collaboration with Barry University, Department of English and Foreign Languages and the Studio for Languages and Cultures, present the Day of Spanish Cinema. Through different activities around the world, this celebration recognizes the role of filmmakers, and their influence and importance in the cultural and social life of the country, as well as the heritage value of their cinema.

This year, we will present the movie Embrujo (1947), directed by Carlos Serrano de Osma, featuring Lola Flores, Manolo Caracol and Fernando Fernán Gómez.

Synopsis: Manolo has discovered in Lola not only the great artist that the public is captivated for but an obsession, a love that transcends the limits of reason and that will make him fall into disgrace. Following the success of their company, Lola is contracted to export flamenco art to the biggest cities in the world. The triumph of Lola finds his correspondence in Manolo’s failure and addiction to alcohol. But the feeling that Manolo has left in Lola is so deep that she will return to Spain to be reunited with him again.

The film will be presented by Professor Beatriz Calvo Peña.
