The photographic work cannot be separated
of Isabel Muñoz’s career and her
passion about dance. This is precisely the
motto of her new selection of photos that
CCE in collaboration with CIFO present
this month. The images investigate the
human body condition, especially the female
body condition in our history.
Dance has worked through ages as a way
of modeling pleasures and hidden powers,
to approve the use of human body in
the search for pleasure, in cultures and
traditions which usually prohibit sensuality.
In her series about Habana Vieja,
Muñoz transforms elements as desire or
eroticism in the main characters of her
work.
To carry out her pieces, the photographer has traveled the globe, from Burkina Fasso to Iran,
visiting Cuba and Buenos Aires performing female portraits where there are no single faces
represented and in which the essential gestures of Argentinian tango or western dances from
Egypt or Turkey are reflected. |
